In an attempt to ensure that more people in Blantyre have access to potable water, Blantyre Water Board (BWB) says it is in the process of connecting 8,000 new customers to its water grid through its promotion dubbed Mpope-mpope.<\/p>\n
According to a press statement BWB released on Thursday, the Board will finish connecting new applicants within the next three weeks.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen the Board launched the Mpope- Mpope Promotion, it got an overwhelming response from the public. The Board had initially targeted about 6,000 new customers, but at the end of the promotion, over 8,000 applications were received. The positive response to the promotion is attributed to the improved water supply as the Board\u2019s major projects at Chileka and Walkers Ferry draw close to their completion,\u201d\u2019 reads the statement dated October 20, 2015.<\/p>\n
The statement, which is titled \u2018update of new water connections\u2019 further says BWB will work tirelessly to connect all paid-up applicants under the promotion to fulfil its obligation of ensuring that all customers have access to water.<\/p>\n
The Mpope-Mpope Promotion was introduced to give chance to both existing and potential domestic customers to get connected to the Board\u2019s water supply at a cheaper rate.<\/p>\n
Customers were given a chance to pay a discounted rate of 25 percent if paying cash or pay by instalments within a six-month period.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
