{"id":10726,"date":"2015-10-22T07:32:02","date_gmt":"2015-10-22T07:32:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=10726"},"modified":"2015-10-22T07:32:02","modified_gmt":"2015-10-22T07:32:02","slug":"japanese-embassy-in-drums-dance-night","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/10\/22\/japanese-embassy-in-drums-dance-night\/","title":{"rendered":"Japanese Embassy in drums, dance night"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Embassy of Japan though its Political and Cultural Affairs Section recently hosted a drums and dance night in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the annual event was to introduce Japanese culture and to promote cultural cooperation between Malawi and Japan.<\/p>\n<p>Japanese Ambassador to Malawi Shuichiro Nishioka and Minister of Sports and Culture, Grace Chiumia graced the occasion.<\/p>\n<p>In his remarks, Nishioka said the drums and dance night is one of the important gatherings in the Japanese cultural calendar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe event is important because of its ability to foster and celebrate the mutual love for music, dance and drums which both the People of Japan and Malawi have in common,\u201d said Nishioka.<\/p>\n<p>On her part, Chiumia hailed the relationship that exists between Japan and Malawi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to promote our culture and at the same time appreciating other countries\u2019 cultures. We are glad to watch Japanese drummers and dancers perform in Malawi,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>During the event, there was a collaborative performance between Japan and children from Music Crossroads Malawi.<\/p>\n<p>It was a wonderful night as several people from all walks of life patronised the event.<\/p>\n<p>For the past four years, Japanese drummers and dancers have been visiting the country to showcase their traditional Japanese \u201cTaiko\u201d drums, which are considered to be \u201cthe heartbeat of the Japanese people.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Embassy of Japan though its Political and Cultural Affairs Section recently hosted a drums and dance night in Lilongwe.
