Government has announced the death of Ministry of Health Chief Technical Advisor, Dr. George Nga Ntafu, who was involved in a road accident at Chatha Trading Center along Chileka road in Blantyre at 12:20pm Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n
Government spokesperson Jappie Mhango confirmed the death saying Ntafu, who was once the only Neuro Surgeon in the country, was referred to Mwaiwathu Private Hospital in Blantyre for treatment where he later died.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs government we are very saddened with the death of Dr Nga Ntafu. We have lost an accomplished neuro <\/strong>surgeon that has served in this region for many years.<\/p>\n \u201cThe death has been very untimely, we will live to remember Dr Ntafu due to his humour, his expertise; all of them will be missed,\u201d said Mhango.<\/p>\n He said government will announce the burial arrangements when it has discussed with the family members about the date and place of burial.<\/p>\n Several people have expressed their shock and sadness over Ntafu\u2019s sudden death.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is a sad moment to learn about the death of Dr Ntafu. We in PP did recognise his expertise hence his deployment into the ministry of heath during our administration. May his soul rest in peace,\u201d explained People\u2019s Party Secretary General Ibrahim Matola<\/p>\n United Democratic Front Publicity Secretary Ken Ndanga said the party was yet to meet and release a statement about the Ntafu\u2019s demise.<\/p>\n Ntafu also served in different cabinet portfolios under former President Bakili Muluzi\u2019s regime.<\/p>\n Some of the posts included Health Minister, Education Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister.
