{"id":10582,"date":"2015-10-20T08:11:31","date_gmt":"2015-10-20T08:11:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=10582"},"modified":"2015-10-20T08:11:31","modified_gmt":"2015-10-20T08:11:31","slug":"standard-bank-gives-k500000-to-ecama","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2015\/10\/20\/standard-bank-gives-k500000-to-ecama\/","title":{"rendered":"Standard Bank gives K500,000 to Ecama"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Standard Bank has partnered the Economics Association of Malawi (Ecama) for this year\u2019s annual general meeting by contributing K500,000 towards the event planned for November.<\/p>\n<p>Standard Bank head of investment banking Shakil Satar said the bank\u2019s partnership is in support of the discourse on agriculture t rans format ion which the Ecama conference will discuss under the theme; \u201c<em>Agricultural Transformation and Value Chain Development for Sustainable Development.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe theme resonates with us as we have been backing the country\u2019s agricultural sector by providing structured trade finance aimed at supporting primary production, agro-processing, value addition and export finance,\u201d said Satar.<\/p>\n<p>He said while agriculture remains the backbone of Malawi\u2019s economy, the sector has faced its fair share of challenges which require the attention of stakeholders during the Ecama conference.<\/p>\n<p>Ecama president Henry Kachaje received a symbolic cheque of K500,000 on behalf of the economists body on Wednesday in Blantyre<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s Economic General Conference, which will be opened by President Peter Mutharika is scheduled for November 13-14 in Mangochi.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Standard Bank has partnered the Economics Association of Malawi (Ecama) for this year\u2019s annual general meeting by contributing K500,000 towards the event planned for November.
