Henry Moyo fired up for Two Oceans

Long-distance runner, Henry Moyo, has said he is in fine spirits ahead of Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon set for Cape Town, South Africa, on Saturday.

Moyo has been camping in South Africa ahead of the competition after he received support from Old Mutual amounting to K700,000.

“I have had good preparations. I have been here for two months and some weeks camping for this big event. I have recovered fully from a nagging knee injury and I have no excuse,” he said.

Moyo conceded that the race would be tough but vowed to impress so as to avoid disappointing his sponsors and employer, Malawi Police Service.

“I know it would be tough. I have been there before and to make it into the top-10 is not easy. However, I am not in a mood to disappoint my employers. They released me for this event by allowing me to camp here in South Africa. Similarly, Old Mutual management played a crucial role by funding my trip,” he said, while also applauding Athletics Association of Malawi’s support towards the race.

Moyo has won several races such as Kuala Lumpur Marathon in Malaysia and Heroes Marathon in South Africa.
