Malawi national netball team Captain, Joanna Kachilika, had an emotional and historical day when she reached 100 caps for the Queens in test series.
Kachilika achieved the feat when the Queens struggled to overcome Northern Ireland 47- 43 in the second preliminary round Vitality Netball World Cup match in Liverpool, England, on Monday.
“It has been an exciting journey. Representing the nation at the highest level is every player’s desire. I am delighted to have been part of the Queens for some time,” she said.
Kachilika started her career at the defunct Chilomoni Township side, Future Mama, before joining MTL Queens (now Tropical Queens).
She has also played for Queens developmental sides.
Netball Association of Malawi General Secretary, Carol Bapu, congratulated Kachilika for reaching the milestone.
“It is not easy for players to reach this mark. It shows that she is a top player who works hard to achieve her goals,” she said.
