Mighty Tigers Coach, Gerald Phiri Senior, has snubbed Be Forward Wanderers’ job offer by opting to stay put at the Kau Kau side.
Phiri was heavily linked to Wanderers, who have fired coach Bob Mpinganjira and his assistant Allan Kamanga following two defeats in three matches.
“I was indeed approached and we had discussions with Wanderers officials. I then had discussions with Abambo [Robin Alufandika,Tigers Technical Director] and I decided to stay put at Tigers.
“We have a project at Tigers and it is better that we finish it,” said the coach who seems to have built a promising side after collecting six points from four games to occupy the fourth position on the TNM Super League log table.
Wanderers are back to square one in their hunt for a new coach ahead of a crucial Airtel Top 8 quarter-final second-leg match against Silver Strikers, having lost 0-1 in the first leg played at Kamuzu Stadium.
