Writer Shadreck Chikoti left the country on Tuesday for Kenya to be part of the Artistic Encounters project with Zukiswa Wanner and Goethe Institute.
Chikoti, who is the founder of Story Club which hosts different creative sessions said the platform will give him a chance to read his work and also participate in a panel discussion with Abu Sense.
“I will be here up to March 31 2019 but the main event is today [yesterday]. I am excited to be part of the project and represent Malawi,” he said.
Chikoti said apart from reading, he is also set to collaborate with Sense, a spoken word artist, to produce a performance that mixes their art.
“It is two artists from different backgrounds of art forms finding synergy and an equilibrium where our art meet,” he said.
The author of Azotus the Kingdom, who is also a Peer Gynt award winner, said there are several projects he will be involved in this time.
“We also have the Feminart which is basically art for feminism coming up in the country which will include book talks, panel discussions, music performances, drama and poetry. We will hold the festival in October”, he said.
Chikoti said Story Club since its inception has been self-funded hence they are determined to run the festival this year.
