Malawi Defence Force pugilist, Wilson Masamba, believes time is ripe for him to win an international belt.
Masamba faces undefeated South African Lunga Stimela in a 10-round African Boxing Union super featherweight title at
Wynberg Military Base in Cape Town on Friday.
“I am going there to represent the country. I am fully prepared to put up an impressive performance. I know that my time to get a belt is here. My fans should not despair because I am ready,” said Masamba on Monday before he departed Zimbabwe, where he camped, for South Africa.
Masamba camped at Delta Force Boxing Academy in Zimbabwe under the guidance of trainer Clyde Musonda.
“I don’t want to talk much but my performance would vindicate me. I have lots of experience and I am confident that I will excel,” he said.
Masamba, 35, has 29 wins, including 10 knockouts, 12 defeats and two draws whereas Stimela has a perfect record, having won all 11 fights through knockouts.
