Malawi netball team’s 58-51 beating of rivals South Africa on Friday has left the Spar Proteas frustrated at the ongoing 2015 Netball World Cup in Australia.
The Proteas coach Norma Plummer and centre Erin Burger told Sky Sports television channel 5 that losing to the opponent, they replaced on the world’s fifth position last week, was a bitter pill to swallow.
“We wanted a better start to the World Cup. But we had some good moments, and we will take them through to our next match. We need more consistency, and we must not fall back into old habits,” Burger said.

Plummer attributed the first loss to Malawi, in four games of all competitions, to failure to control the centre at Olympic Park in Sydney on Friday.
“We had opportunities and we didn’t take them. I would say we let ourselves down,” Plummer observed.
Malawi goal-shooter Mwayi Kumwenda missed only three attempts out of 43, and the South African defenders Karla Mostert and Adele Niemand had their work cut out for them.
Malawi topped pool C of the World Cup after also beating Sri Lanka and Singapore 101-18 and 75- 31 respectively. Malawi face Jamaica today in a pool E clash with top two from the group also comprising Wales likely to qualify for the semi-finals.
