Malawi under-23 national football team striker, Peter Banda, continues to attract the attention of South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) teams.

Banda was re-called by Pirates for a second look last week after undergoing trials in August this year.

The striker also attended trials at another PSL side, Bidvest Wits, about three weeks ago.

A report on soccerladuma. com described Banda as an Orlando Pirates transfer target who continues to impress with his fine performances after scoring in the Flames reserves’ 1-1 stalemate with Botswana.

“With the Buccaneers appearing to be keen on further strengthening their squad, Malawian youngster Peter Banda has emerged as one of the targets for the Soweto giants. Bucs are seemingly chasing the striker with a view of adding him to coach Milutin Sredojevic’s team, as reported.

“Having recently left Bucs, after attending a trial with the side, the 18-year-old went on to impress with his performance for the Malawi U-23 team. Banda was on the score-sheet as Malawi U-23s eliminated the Botswana U-23 team from the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with a 3-2 aggregate score line,” the report reads.

Banda’s uncle, Griffin Saenda Junior, who is also his agent, said Pirates were yet to come out clear on the results of the trials.

“We are not in a hurry. We will wait for the right offer and take it from there. But there has not been anything on the table from either Wits or Pirates,” Saenda Junior said
