Be Forward Wanderers striker, Zicco Mkanda, has paid tribute to his teammates after scoring four goals in the last three games for the TNM Super League defending champions.

Mkanda struck a brace when Wanderers defeated non-league side, Dwangwa Town Hammers, 3-0 on Tuesday to reach the Fisd Challenge Cup quarter-finals.

Defender Bongani Kaipa scored the first goal for Wanderers.

Mkanda was an epitome of modesty, describing his teammates as influential figures towards his feat.

“It is all about teamwork. My team is playing attacking football thereby creating a lot of scoring chances. This is helping me to score,” he said.

Mkanda has taken his tally for the season to nine goals in all competitions.

The forward scored once each when Wanderers drew one-all with Silver Strikers and defeated Karonga United 1-0.

Mkanda made a slow start to life at Wanderers following nine years of playing in Mozambique.

In 2008, Mkanda moved from now defunct Escom United to join Matchedje de Maputo before signing for Ferroviaro de Beira then switching to Liga Maculumana in 2012.

At Maculmana, he banged 16 goals to win the Golden Boot Award during the 2013/14 season.

Mkanda, who is a typical centre forward who thrives when playing with his back to the goal, said he has not lost hope of playing in other countries.

He was part of the Flames squad that won the Cosafa Plate Division championship in South Africa in 2015.
