Vice-President Saulos Chilima arrived in the country Sunday from a seven-day visit to the United Kingdom (UK).

On his arrival through Kamuzu International Airport, Chilima addressed supporters who gathered to welcome him.

Chilima urged people to vote with confidence, assuring them that no one would rig elections next year.

While in the UK, Chilima was engaged in various activities including delivering keynote addresses at various events and was featured on British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) ‘Hard Talk’ programme hosted by Zeinab Badawi.

At Cambridge University African-Caribbean society’s inaugural African Summit which was held on October 20, Chilima argued that lack of commitment towards development among African leaders is one of the reasons the continent has remained underdeveloped.

He urged Africans studying at the university to be agents of change upon completion of their studies.

“No one will transform Africa and the Caribbean apart from us. I therefore challenge you to be agents of change in your respective countries,” he said.
