Malawian boxer Crispin Moliati faces a tough test when he headlines South Africa’s TK Boxing Promotions bill against World Boxing Association (WBA) Pan African lightweight boxing champion Ayanda Nkosi in North West Province tonight.

South Africa’s Sowetan newspaper reports that Moliati will take on the South African at Rustenburg Hall in a bout over 10 rounds.

Nkosi, who raised eyebrows with an eight-round stoppage time win over talented Jeff Magagane for the Gauteng title in March last year, is fresh from a 10th round knockout of vastly experienced Cosmas Cheka last month.

The South African faces a stern test as Moliati has also been in there with top names, including former world champion Paulos Moses from Namibia.

“There is no doubt that Ayanda will win. He is improving in each and every fight. We do not undermine Moliati at all because he is no pushover,” Vus’umuzi Malinga, the South African boxer’s manager, told the newspaper.

Like Elias, Nkosi’s trainer Tshabalala said his charge will take Moliati to the cleaner.

Nkosi has nine wins in his professional boxing career, with four knockouts against a loss, while Moliati has 22 wins from 34 bouts.

Malawi Professional Boxing Control Board General Secretary, Frank Chibisa, yesterday said Moliati was capable of upsetting the South African.

Moliati’s compatriot Chikondi Makawa will also take on Brandon Thysse in a junior middle weight eight-round bout. Moliati is a Malawi Defence Force boxer.

The main supporting bout features North West junior flyweight title fight between champion Tiisetso Modisadife and Onke Khanzi over 10 rounds.
