[dropcap]M[/dropcap]ulhako wa Alhomwe, an influential grouping of the Lhomwe tribe, is demanding an apology from one of its own,  lawmaker for Mulanje West Patricia Kaliati.

Kaliati speaks during the UTM launch on Saturday

The grouping is angry with Kaliati because she did not mention the title of Paramount Chief Ngolongoliwa when she spoke during the launch of a new party, United Transformation Movement (UTM)

The chairman of the group, Leston Mulli, told the press in Blantyre that “if she fails to apologise, we will organise vigils at her home until she does.”

During the launch of UTM in Lilongwe last Saturday, Kaliati said the Lhomwe chief and its chairman Mulli were the first people that came up with the suggestion that vice president Saulos Chilima should be the DPP’s 2019 presidential candidate next year and not President Peter Mutharika.

But apparently, Kaliati did not include the chief’s title when she made reference to him.

“If she does not apologise within this given period, we will organise a vigil at her place until she tells us what she wants from us,” Mulli said.

But Kaliati on Monday said she cannot apology because she did nothing wrong.
She is one of the founding members of the country’s most powerful grouping whose patron is President Peter Mutharika
