Be Forward Wanderers midfielder, Joseph Kamwendo, has dedicated his Airtel Top 8 Golden Boot Award to the late Jack Chamangwana who, until his recent death, was the team’s technical director.

Kamwendo won the award with two goals after scoring in 1-0 wins against Kamuzu Barracks over two legs in the quarter-finals as the Nomads qualified for the semi-final.

In the last-four stage, Wanderers lost 2-1 to Nyasa Big Bullets, who too, eventually stumbled in the final 1-0 to eventual winners, Blue Eagles, on Sunday.

“I dedicate this award to our own legend, the late Jack ‘Africa’ Chamangwana,” he said, while hailing Wanderers’ coaching panel and teammates for rendering support to him.

“I have constantly said that individual prizes come as a result of collective effort. I don’t take it for granted and without [my teammates], I couldn’t have won this. It’s down to the group.”

Wanderers’ striker Khumbo Ng’ambi won last year’s top goalscorer award with three goals.
