Karonga United have disciplined midfielder Chisomo Masiya and defender Peter Mselema for allegedly misbehaving after the 2-2 draw against Mafco FC in a TNM Super League match played at Chitowe Ground in Dwangwa on Saturday.
Karonga Chairperson, Alufeyo Chipanga Banda, said the players sneaked out of camp after the game and were dropped from the game against Dwangwa United the following day.
“They were not featured during Dwangwa’s game due to their bad behaviour. Behaviour is paramount in the team. The technical panel is discussing the way forward on the players,” Banda said.
He warned other players against indiscipline for the betterment of their football careers.
Banda has since assured that the two players will be available for Saturday’s league game against TN Stars at Karonga Stadium.
However, Masiya downplayed Banda’s accusations.
“We were surprised to learn that we would not play in the next game, which we lost [1-0]. The officials have called for a meeting. I hope it is to do with the same issue, and we are ready to apologise,” Masiya said.
