Kamuzu Barracks’s Francisco Kamdzeka eyes golden boot

Kamuzu Barracks (KB) striker, Francisco Kamdzeka, has said he is targeting the 2018 TNM Super League season’s Golden Boot Award.

The 22-year-old forward helped his team to bag four points from the Northern Region over the weekend at Mzuzu Stadium after beating Mzuni FC 2-0 and drawing 1-1 with their fellow military team, Moyale.

Kamdzeka netted in both matches from the bench. He scored the second goal against Mzuni on Saturday after being on the pitch for just one minute.

In Sunday’s game against the Lions of Kaning’ina, Kamdzeka was introduced into the grueling encounter in the 57th minute, replacing Sammy Chiponda.

He became his team’s hero of the day after netting the equalizer to cancel out Brown Magaga’s goal after playing only four minutes of being on the pitch.

In an interview later, the super substitute expressed happiness for the two goals he scored, saying he would like to continue with the momentum he has gained since the season kicked off.

“I am encouraged with the two goals I have scored here in Mzuzu. I had just one league goal but now I have gone up to three. I will continue to work hard so that I fulfill my ambition of becoming the season’s top goal scorer. I will work hard to accomplish my dream,” Kamdzeka said.

KB assistant Coach, Ted Kalinda, revealed that introducing Kamdzeka from the bench is his tactical approach to games.

“Introducing Kamdzeka off the bench is my tactic. He is a good striker and I am satisfied with his contribution,” Kalinda said.
