New deal excites Mike Mkwate

Nyasa Big Bullets playmaker, Mike Mkwate, has said he is delighted with his two-and-a-half-year contract extension at the People’s Team.

Mkwate’s contract was due to expire at the end of the season but Bullets management has moved swiftly to tie the midfielder to a new contract.

The move follows the midfielder’s blistering start to the season and is seen as a way of stopping rivals Be Forward Wanderers and Silver Strikers from signing him.

The former Wizards FC player said he agreed to sign a new deal after Bullets showed interest in maintaining his services.

“It shows that I am loved and trusted. So there was no way I could turn down an extension offer. The club has demonstrated that it values my services. This will motivate me to work even harder to continue satisfying the team’s fans. As players, we are employed to do that,” Mkwate said.

Bullets Chief Executive Officer, Fleetwood Haiya, said it is important for the club to keep all its best players.

“Some teams were also following him closely. So at times like these, we need to act quickly to ensure that our cream stays with us. We hope the renewed contract will inspire him to play even better to help the team win silverware,” Haiya said.

Mkwate joined Bullets from Wizards in 2016 and is a crowd favourite with his amazing dribbling skills.

His standout performances at Bullets have seen him earn national team call-ups at both junior and senior levels.
