Moyale FC have blamed their 0-1 TNM Super League loss to Karonga United on Sunday on the absence of their top striker, Gastin Simkonda.
The Lions of Kaning’ina surrendered to the top flight league returnees on their first appearance at Karonga Stadium.
Moyale made the trip without Simkonda, who is with the Flames at the Cosafa Castle Cup tournament in Polokwane, South Africa.
Simkonda returned from injury last season to emerge as Moyale’s top goal scorer with three goals in the current season.
Speaking after the Sunday defeat, Moyale assistant Coach, Victor Chingoka, said his team had an impotent striking force.
“We trust in any player who we have featured in a particular match but let me say that we have really missed Gastin’s services because, if he were available, we be speaking of a different result,” Chingoka said.
He said his team also needs to work on its midfield and striking force as the season heats up.
Karonga United mentor, Christopher Nyambose, hailed his charges for sticking to the game plan.
“We respect Moyale because they have been in the Super League for many years. But we had the right tactics to match their game,” Nyambose said.
The win took Karonga to position seven on the table, with nine points from seven games.
