Senior golfer Sope Kayira and Jeong-ok Yoo dominated AuditConsult Golf Tournament at Country Club Limbe in Blantyre on Monday, Kamuzu Day.
Kayira, playing off handicap 13, scored 41 points to outclass 48 golfers.
The club’s stand-in Captain, Chapusa Phiri, playing off handicap 22, was counted in to finish as a runner-up with 40 points.
Developmental golfer, Folindo Rodrick, playing off handicap eight, was counted out to occupy third position.
Kayira said he gained confidence that he could win after collecting 21 points on the front nine.
“From that moment, I composed myself and concentrated much because the greens were playing so well,” he said.
In the ladies’ section, Yoo was on cloud nine after dominating it. Playing off handicap 30, Yoo scored the day’s most points, 43.
She also won the nearest to the pin on hole 13 and longest drive on hole 18.
In her brief speech, Yoo said was happy to win and loved the country.
Ladies’ golfer of the moment, Bose Kamphulusa, settled for second position, with 39 points.
In other subsidiary prizes, Rashid Salimu won the longest drive in men’s section on hole 18 whereas Chiukepo Gondwe and Gilbert Chirwa [not the former footballer] won two clubs.
Audit Consult Partner, David Mhango, promised to turn the competition into an annual event.
“We provide specialist consultancy services to support business in short, medium and long terms,” Mhango said.
