Inkosi Mzukuzuku Jere of Mzimba says construction of Jenda-Edingeni Road currently underway has raised hopes for economic transformation of communities surrounding the area.
The chief made the remarks after a private tour of the project this week.
Mzukuzuku Jere said he is impressed with the road construction progress hoping that the project would meet the deadline.
“It has been a long-time dream for communities surrounding this area to have a tarmac road. This is because they’re aware that a good road network stimulates social and economic transformation of the people, hence my subjects are anxious to see the road project get completed on time,” he said.
Inkosi Mzukuzuku Jere said he expects that his area would register a significant economic boom when the Jenda-Edingeni Road project is finalised.
“Poor road network has been hindering businesspersons and farmers from this area to transport their products to places such as Kasungu and Mzuzu where they can fetch better prices. The opening of this road will, therefore, stimulate economic growth in this area,” he said.
