The future of World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight elimination contest between Zambian Loleta Muzeya and Malawian Ruth Chisale hangs in the balance as the authorities are yet to identify a promoter with a better bid.
Following the uncertainty, both camps have started looking for alternative fights.
Chisale is expected to face a Tanzanian on April 29 at M1 Centre Point in Lilongwe in a non-title contest.
Ngumi Boxing Stable, which co-manages Chisale, has disclosed that they have received offers from Europe and they will opt for them if WBC fails to determine the right promoter.
“We are working on our plan B as we wait for WBC’s ruling. To stay in shape, we have allowed our boxer to take part in a warm up fight against a Tanzanian,” said Chisale’s Manager, Steve Mawenzi Msiska.
Zambian promoter, Chris Malunga, said the stable has turned its focus on Solwezi North Western Province, where it will stage fights on April 28.
WBC called for a re-match following irregularities that marred the fight, which took place in Lusaka.
