Members of Mzuzu Lions Club have expressed worry over disasters Mzuzu City residents continue to experience, blaming the situation on environmental degradation.
This year’s rainy season has left 1,700 houses, and other structures in the city, damaged by heavy rains that came with strong wind.
Mzuzu Lions Club interim President, Simon Gondwe, said people have carelessly cut down trees in the city.
Gondwe was speaking at Kazando Primary School where club members were planting trees at the school premises. The school had its roof blown off by strong winds, which injured 15 learners.
