South Africa’s veteran musician, Sipho ‘Big Fish’ Makhabane, will jet into the country tomorrow ahead of his performance during the Great Angels Choir website celebration at Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.

Great Angels Choir Music Director, Ephraim Zonda, said Monday that all was set for the website celebration and that, apart from that, people have a chance to watch Makhabane live.

“We have been preparing for the website celebration for a longtime but now that time is here. We thank God for the organisation of everything and our guest artist Sipho Makhabane is coming without fail and he will be in on Wednesday (Wednesday),” Zonda said.

He also said that Makhabane has promised them the best on Friday and that he will perform with a full band.

“Some people might think he will play with a CD but he has told us that people will be blessed on Friday. He is coming with his full band. As a group we are excited to have him. He is a veteran musician, who has been there and so we will also have a chance to learn from him,” Zonda said.

The ‘Over and Over’ star was brought into the country last year by different organisers but went back home disappointed as he failed to perform due to disagreements between the organisers and venue owners.

He, however, promised that he would come back to compensate people for the no-show.

Zonda said on Wednesday they will engage the corporate world for them to appreciate the website.

“We are appealing to the corporate world to be part of this gathering which is for them. After this then we will have a celebration on Friday where the audience will also have a chance to see how the website looks like and what it has,” he said.

With artists now embracing technology through different platforms, Zonda said the website will help them to reach out to many people including those in the diaspora.

“We have missed opportunities in the past because we did not have a website. There will be a lot of things. For instance, we will have dates for performances and other news. Through the website, people will also be able to know more about the group but also buy our music,” Zonda said.

The group has of late won the hearts of many people with their live performances and albums.

Great Angels, with 20 members, has four albums to their credit namely Mundifungatire, Gwireni Dzanja, Ndiyende Bwanji and Mwasankha Ine.
