Big Bullets to meet on coach

Newly crowned Carlsberg Cup champions, Nyasa Big Bullets’ Executive Committee is set to meet over Football Association of Malawi’s (Fam) order to employ a qualified coach for the team.

Bullets interim General Secretary, Albert Chigoga, Monday confirmed that the meeting follows Coach, Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan’s failure to return after being given an ultimatum.

“I cannot give you any concrete information until that meeting comes up with an agreement,” Chigoga said.

Fam warned Bullets that they risked a K500,000 fine if they continued using under-qualified mentor Elia Kananji as Coach.

The local football governing body set Saturday’s Carlsberg Cup final as the last match for Bullets to deploy Kananji in that role.

Bullets warned Ramadhan that if he did not report for duties by the end of the first-round, the club would advertise his job.

The Burundian tactician was suspended half-way into the league’s first-round after Bullets were booted out of the Airtel Top 8 Cup by eventual winners, Silver Strikers.

Bullets Chairperson, Noel Lipipa, earlier stated that the club may bring in coaches from England and re-assign Kananji within the team’s set up.

Despite lacking the minimum of a Caf B Licence for coaching a Super League team under Club Licensing System requirements, Kananji has won the Carlsberg Cup in three consecutive seasons with Bullets and Wanderers.
