Karong-based Uliwa United FC claim Big Bullets midfielder Enaya Banda’s transfer from Karonga United to the People’s Team is invalid since the player was on loan from the Northern Region Football League side.
Uliwa have since demanded the return of the attacking midfielder to allow discussions on the player’s transfer take place.
Uliwa team manager, Gradson Chirwa, said the midfielder was loaned to Karonga United in 2014 season on the understanding that he should help them in the TNM
Super League campaign and that he would return to his club if the mission failed.
He said to their dismay, when Karonga were booted out of the league, they sold the player to Bullets.
Chirwa said Karonga United have failed to explain how Banda found himself at Bullets hence the decision to recall the player.
“We are engaging the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) on the matter,” said Chirwa.
However, Bullets claim they legitimately bought Banda from Karonga United.
Bullets’ executive committee member McDonald Mwamadi confirmed the player was bought from Karonga United through agent Winnie Nyondo.
Mwamadi referred the matter to Nyondo who was liaising with Karonga United.
But Nyondo said Banda was a free agent when he joined Bullets and demanded evidence from Uliwa United to substantiate the claims that the player was indeed loaned to Karonga United.
Sulom general secretary Williams Banda said Uliwa have to sort the issue out with their fellow lower league side Karonga United through Northern Region Football Association.
