Carlsberg Cup national phase kicks off today with seven matches lined up across the country.

Kalulu Stadium in Nchalo, Chikwawa will be the centre of attraction as Blantyre giants Mighty Be Forward Wanderers face Southern Region Football League side Max Bullets.

Max Bullets owner, Maxwell Kapanda, said his team would surprise the Super League giants.

“I know Wanderers will come hard on us after losing to Big Bullets and Silver Strikers in the TNM Super League, but we are not afraid. My boys are ready for the game. We are geared for it,” Kapanda said.

However, Wanderers coach Eliya Kananji, said he was aware of the importance of the game.

Kananji said he had advised his charges to put behind their defeat in Super League and concentrate on the cup game.

“Much as we know that the molare is very low in our camp after losing to Bullets, but this is a different game. We are meeting Max Bullets and we are looking to win no matter what. We will win this match at all cost,” said Kananji.

Football Association of Malawi competitions manager, Gomezgani Zakazaka said the association was expecting fair play in all matches to avoid violence and any acts of hooliganism.

Zakazaka said he was optimistic that the 2015 Carlsberg Cup would surpass last year’s competition.

“Yes, we are happy that the much anticipated Carlsberg Cup national phase starts today. As Fam we are set to run the competition in a professional manner and we are sure that the good working relationship we have with the sponsor will make this cup much better than last year,” Zakazaka said.
