NO-NONSENSE Be Forward Wanderers Head Coach, Yasin Osman, has cracked the whip on his free-scoring attacker, Jafali Chande, on disciplinary grounds.
Osman dropped Chande from the squad that beat Moyale Barracks 3-2 in the Airtel Top 8 Cup semi-final at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe due to indiscipline.
It all started when Osman substituted Chande during the quarter-final second leg match against Azam Tigers at Kalulu Stadium in Nchalo, Chikwawa District, where the game ended 1-1 a fortnight ago.
According to sources, the former Nyasa Big Bullets attacking midfielder was unhappy with the substitution and reacted by reporting late for training ahead of the semi-final.
When Osman tried to reason with Chande over his reaction, the two ended up exchanging words at the training ground.
Later, Chande shunned training and was conspicuously absent when Wanderers regrouped on Monday ahead of yesterday’s final against Silver Strikers in Lilongwe.
Chande only reported for training on Tuesday at Chiwembe Ground in Blantyre.
However, Wanderers Team Manager, Steve Madeira, downplayed the incident.
“This is an in-house matter. We promote discipline in the team and the coach is very serious on this. We just need to sit down as the technical team and discuss the way forward,” Madeira said.
Chande scored when Wanderers beat Tigers 2-0 at Balaka Stadium during the cup’s quarter-final first leg match.
