TWO Zambian boxers, Tshimanga Thsimungu and Emmanuel Kabwe, have vowed to torment their Malawian opponents during non-title contests set for M1 Centre Point in Lilongwe today.
Thsimungu will face Limbani Masamba in an eight round welterweight contest whereas Kabwe is set to trade punches with Israel Kam’mwamba in a lightweight contest.
According to boxrec.com, Masamba has 10 wins including five knockouts and has suffered eight defeats whereas Tshimanga has 11 wins including eight knockouts and has lost twice.
The Zambian lost his last bout on unanimous decision to Mathieu Mbuyi in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo, last year.
Tshimanga has threatened to send Masamba into early retirement.
“I am not in Malawi as a tourist. My mission is simple: I just want to send Masamba to early retirement. This will be his last bout,” he said.
But Masamba said he was not moved by Tshimanga’s threats and countered that he will prove why he has adopted the nickname ‘Lion’ to by tearing his challenger to pieces.
“He is encroaching in my territory and I will not let him leave without scars. He will live to remember this day because I will crush him like a lion does,” he said.
Kabwe and Kam’mwamba also spoke tough.
Kabwe, who defeated Kam’mwamba five years ago during the Zone VI Youth Games [now Region Five Games] in Lusaka, Zambia, said he wanted to repeat the feat.
“I am coming to teach him a lesson or two. I am still the best and I would like to beat him in front of his home fans to prove that we are miles apart,” he said.
Kam’mwamba said he had matured and was looking forward to the fight.
“I will welcome him with some jabs. Yes he defeated me then but several years have gone by and many factors have changed,” he said.
Both Kabwe and Kam’mwamba are aged 22.
According to boxrec.com, Kabwe has two wins including a knockout in two professional bouts whereas Kam’mwamba is also unbeaten in seven professional fights having won all of them including four knockouts.
