Minister of Labour, Manpower Development, Youth and Sports, Henry Mussa, has disclosed that the government will establish a sports academy.
Speaking on the sidelines of the August House meeting in Lilongwe Tuesday, Mussa said the government will prioritise the academy as one way of ensuring that the country’s national teams reclaim their glory on the international stage.
“Let there be a revolution and as one way of doing this, we have resolved to have a sports academy that will be training nothing but sports in various disciplines be it football, volleyball, netball and golf,” Mussa said.
It is yet to be seen if such an ambition will be implemented looking at the fact that the government is struggling to finish Mzuzu Youth Centre and keep in shape its facilities such as Kamuzu Institute for Sports and BAT Ground.
