Epac FC players challenged

Civo United Team Manager, James Chimphepo, has challenged Epac players to work hard and impress the technical panel.

Civo are set to stay put in the TNM Super League after acquiring the top-flight league status of Epac.

However, the former MDC United winger, Chimphepo, said no one was guaranteed a place in the team.

When asked if it is automatic that they would sign players from Epac and Civo, Chimphepo said every player must earn their place in the team.

“We have players from these two teams. We have promoted some from the youth team, so all these players have to fight for a place in the team. We are not panicking to pick players from Epac because nobody has told us to do so,” Chimphepo said.

He said the team will shortly release a final list of 25 players to be signed.

“Preparations are going on well and even if the league starts this week, we will be able to come up with a formidable side. But what I can say is that every player will be signed on merit,” he added.

Civo caretaker Coach, Franco Ndawa, said his focus was on coming up with a winning team.

“I am not looking at where a player is coming from. My aim is to select players who will bring us results,” Ndawa said.

“I have not been appointed as the team’s coach. I am only helping the team in coming up with players to sign. But if they want to hire me as a permanent coach, I am ready. But what I can promise is that people will see a changed Civo this year.”

On Saturday, Civo lost 2-1 to Dwangwa United in a friendly played at Chitowe Ground.
