Nyasa Big Bullets have changed their recruitment policy by abandoning big name players for raw talent.
Apart from welcoming back Chimango Kayira, the People’s Team failed to sign high profile players in the just-ended transfer window.
Bullets Chairperson, Noel Lipipa, confirmed on Tuesday that they want to have strong reserve sides.
“We are moving in the direction where we would be grooming players from youth teams. We know that change is a gradual process and we will face resistance from the supporters but our plan is to have the majority of young players in the team,” Lipipa said.
Probably, the shift in the transfer policy was due to the unavailability of top players on the market. Bullets were linked with Wanderers hitman Ishmael Thindwa and Blue Eagles versatile attacker Micium Mhone.
However, both players stayed put at their respective clubs.
In the just ended transfer window, Bullets signed blossoming forward Bright Munthali from Azam Tigers, Misheck Botoman (from Mitra Icons), Davie Banda (Nsanama) and Andy Kamlete (Ireland).
During the Wafawafa Big Four Bonanza in Lilongwe recently, Bullets failed to score in open play in games against Silver Strikers and Be Forward Wanderers.
After the bonanza, some supporters piled pressure on the Executive Committee to bolster the team with a quality forward.
But Head Coach, Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan, has called for calm ahead of the season.
Bullets, the record 13-time Super League champions, finished on second position last season with 60 points, a point behind champions Kamuzu Barracks.
