Singer and dancer Wendy Harawa on Saturday underlined her seriousness in music when she launched her fourth album Nalliah at Lingadzi Inn’s Mandimu Garden in Lilongwe.

Not even rains, which fell in bucketfuls on the night, could stop music lovers from attending the show.

Organised Family, led by Oga Kent and Rex, warmed the stage for Wendy.

The group, which announced that it would launch their new album Don’t Judge Me in the country after their European tour, scored a mark in terms of interaction with the audience.

Being the headliner of the show, Wendy entered the stage with pomp, opening her menu with one of her old songs. She then dropped a praise song, thanking God for the show’s success.

Of the new songs, Wendy performed ‘Justin’, which is a version of Lucius’ Belita track, ‘Still Me’, which is a collabo with Hamoba, ‘Ambuye Ndionetseni’ and the title track Nalliah, the name of her daughter,

Nalliah, written by Lucius, is a song Wendy dedicates to her daughter and all girls in the world. It encourages them to go to school.

The female musician, who also performed in Mzuzu on Sunday, was active on stage and engaged the audience.

“I would like to thank people for the support. I am happy with the album,” Wendy said.

Recorded in Zambia and Malawi, other songs in the album are ‘One More Time’, a tribute to Musamude Fumulani, and Lily T Amandinena, ‘Lekeni Nipuse’, ‘Boo Boo Tiye’ and ‘Chikondi Chabe’.

Wendy’s previous albums are Noah, Hero and Africa.

Others who curtain-raised the show were Lucius Banda, Zembani Band artists and Hamoba.
