Mobile service provider Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) has withdrawn Super League sponsorship with immediate effect.
“TNM has made the decision to fully withdraw from sponsorship of the Super League and let other potential sponsors take part in the continued development of sports in Malawi” reads TNM statement in part.
The withdrawal follows suspension of the league a week ago, after a determination by the Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC) over contract renewal negotiations.
CFTC instituted a one-year investigation on reports that the contract between Super League of Malawi (Sulom) and TNM was contrary to the Competition and Fair Trading Act.
TNM had invested into the league, a total of MK2.6 billion in the past 10 years.
