The hiring of Lloyd Nkhwazi as Dwangwa United Technical Director (TD) has brought trouble at the club as Head Coach, Macdonald Mtetemera, is reportedly refusing to work with the former Nyasa Big Bullets coach.
Two camps in support of Mtetemera and the other for Nkhwazi have reportedly emerged at the Lake Shore side.
Mtetemera shunned the team’s training sessions last week, allegedly in reaction to Nkhwazi’s appointment.
Mtetemera, who was not on the technical bench on Saturday at the start of Dwangwa’s friendly game against Silver Strikers at Chitowe Stadium, only appeared at half -time to join his technical team.
But drama ensued when the team’s Chairperson, Anold Zenizeni, told Mtetemera to leave, saying he was not supposed to be on the bench since he did not attend training sessions.
The two exchanged bitter words before Mtetemera left for the terraces.
In an interview, Mtetemera blamed the team’s Executive Committee for not informing him about Nkhwazi’s recruitment.
“The executive has not formally introduced him [Nkhwazi] to me, but as I earlier indicated, I don’t have any problem working with him,” he said.
Asked why he has been shunning the team’s training sessions, Mtetemera said he was sorting out personal issues.
Dwangwa Team Manager, George Kampira, echoed Mtetemera’s remarks.
“Imagine as a Team Manager I only learnt about Nkhwazi’s coming from the media and when he came, the executive did not address us to introduce him to us,” Kampira said.
Dwangwa General Secretary, Samson Zimba, said they were yet to meet Mtetemera over the issue.
“It is true that Mr. Mtetemera did not train the team last week but he did not tell us why he did so. We are yet to summon him for a meeting,” Zimba said.
Nkhwazi recently rejected the TD post saying he was not done with coaching. He eventually u-turned to take up the post.
