Airtel Malawi has donated 80 desks worth K5 million to Nyodola Primary School in Thyolo District.
Speaking after handing over the desks, Airtel Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, Norah Chirwa, said her company appreciates the challenges faced by learners in some schools in the country.
Chirwa said Airtel, therefore, felt duty-bound to help the school following an appeal from Blantyre Press Club.
“Immediately after that, we started discussing with management. I am pleased that management agreed to donate these desks. At least 160 children will be able to use the desks,” she said.
Blantyre Press Club President, Blessings Kanache, hailed Airtel for the response.
“We shall continue working hand in hand with the government in solving some of the problems being experienced in schools,” Kanache said.
In his remarks, Nyodola Primary School Head Teacher, Harrison Macheso, said the assistance will help to alleviate some of the problems the school is facing.
