Sempha Investments have unveiled K3 million sponsorship for Central Region Volleyball League (CRVL) for the next two years.

This means the company will be sponsoring the league to the tune of K1.5 million per season.

Announcing the news during a prize presentation ceremony in Lilongwe on Saturday, the company’s Managing Director, Charles Zimba, said he wanted to take volleyball to greater heights.

“We want the development of sports. We know that if we engage boys and girls in sports, they will become healthy people. It is only healthy people who can contribute to the development of the country,” Zimba said.

He insisted that the long-term partnership with the league would depend on the management of the current deal.

CRVL Publicity Secretary, Peter Pemba, said the sponsorship would help improve the standards of the sport in the region.

The company also gave prize money for the 2016 season which saw Kamuzu Barracks emerging as champions followed by Lilongwe Spikers and Blue Eagles.

Lilongwe Smashers finished as champions in League B whereas Red Busters and Prison Trooper came second and third, respectively.

Eagles won the ladies league championship with Snipers and KB Community Day Secondary School finishing on position two and three, respectively.

The 2017 season also started with entertaining games.
