Moyale Barracks FC have sacked Coach, Collins Nkuna, with the Mzuzu team’s former mentor Nicholas Mhango set for a comeback.
Mhango is expected to return from a peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The team’s General Secretary, Precious Gausi, said the removal of Nkuna was made to avoid duplication of roles.
“Nkuna will be playing an advisory role, but as you remember, he took over from Mhango after he left for peace-keeping. Now he is returning before the kick off of the league. Therefore, we cannot have two head coaches,” he said.
Gausi further said Nkuna’s deputy, Charles Kamanga, is the Interim Coach.
Nkuna was not available for a comment, but Gausi said the changes have been communicated to the coach.
Nkuna was fired as Red Lions coach midway the 2015 season before he joined Moyale Barracks last season.
Under his watch, Moyale reached the 2016 Presidential Cup final which they lost to Nyasa Big Bullets.
During a recent Malawi Defence Force gala held in Lilongwe, Moyale were awarded as the most disciplined among the army clubs.
