Sulom boss calls

Super League of Malawi (Sulom) President, Innocent Botoman, has said his body is disturbed with the chaos in Nyasa Big Bullets and called for warring factions to bury the hatchet.

Botoman called on the Supporters Committee and the Board of Trustees, who have been at loggerheads, to speak one language and safeguard Nyasa Manufacturing Company’s (NMC) sponsorship.

“Being the People’s Team the best way is for all stakeholders to follow the constitution. As Sulom, honestly, we are not happy with what normally happens in Bullets,” he said.

“We are keeping an eye on the happenings at Bullets. We urge all stakeholders at Bullets to put their house in order. There is need to have a structure that is trusted by the sponsor.”

The two camps disagreed over the holding of the Executive Committee elections after the trustees insisted on scrapping off Treasurer and General Secretary positions and hire full-time qualified secretariat staff.

The supporters challenged the trustees’ decision saying it was made at an illegal gathering in Lilongwe.

The fans said it was only decisions from an annual general meeting that are binding.

NMC reacted by suspending the K500 million sponsorship before the fans challenged that the company should pay off the players’ salaries for February and sever the sponsorship ties.

In the latest twist, the fans apologised to NMC during a meeting held on Wednesday afternoon at Kamuzu Stadium.
