Old Mutual plants trees

Old Mutual Life Assurance Company has extended its tree planting exercise to the Central Region after launching similar initiatives in the Southern Region.

The company’s Managing Director, Tavona Biza, said Old Mutual decided to widen the scope as part of efforts to combat deforestation.

The initiative was led by Lilongwe City Mayor, Desmond Bikoko, and saw over 5,000 trees planted along Lingadzi River banks near Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

“We strive to be responsible to the communities in which we operate and to the environment,” Biza said.

On his part, Bikoko hailed Old Mutual for the tree planting exercise saying the area was worst hit by floods.
