Silver Strikers have signed Nigerian defender Yinusa Sheriff Olanrewaju to replace Lucky Malata who joined Be Forward Wanderers recently.
Silver General Secretary, Thabo Nyirenda, Monday confirmed that the defender passed two-week trials.
“He is a versatile player. We have received recommendation from the technical panel that Sherrif can play as a right back, last man and even as a central midfielder. He was a free agent and we have agreed with him to be part of our family for the next two years,” Nyirenda said.
Olanrewaju described the move to Silver Strikers as a big step in his career.
“Silver Strikers is a big team here in Malawi. I have heard that they keep and fulfill their promises to their players and that their loyalty is unbeatable and incomparable here in Malawi,” said the player whose transfer is subject to a Football Association of Malawi’s clearance.
“I am a banking and finance graduate, and that means I am a banker. That is why I love playing for the bankers.”
Olanrewaju’s manager Duncan Kamwendo said his client is experienced having played in countries such as Benin, Niger, Togo, Ghana and Nepal.
