The Ntchisi Evangelical Churches Consortium of Social Services (Necoss) has donated wheel chairs and tricycles worth K1.2 million to people with disabilities.
Speaking during the donation on Monday at Ntchisi Executive Lodge, Necoss programmes coordinator, Mathias Chindungwa said the donation is aimed at reducing problems of mobility among people with disabilities.
He said the organisation decided to present the donation to people with disabilities after realising the problems the people have been facing when they want to access health services among others.
“With the donation of these wheel chairs and tricycles to people three traditional authorities of Malenga, Kalumo and Chilooko, these people will be able to go over long distances to access different services in their lives,” he said.
District social welfare officer for Ntchisi Dennis Sikwese thanked Neccoss for the donation saying this will help the young children with disabilities to access Early Child Development (ECDs) services.
One of the beneficiaries, Paul Ng’ondola of Magombo Disability Club thanked Neccoss for the support.
Neccoss is implementing the people with disabilities (PWDs) integrated strategy in HIV Prevention and Impact Mitigation Project with support from US Embassy.
