John Lanjesi back for Big Bullets

TNM Super League defending champions, Nyasa Big Bullets, have been boosted by the return from injury of defender John Lanjesi and striker Collen Nkhulambe.

Lanjesi and Nkhulambe resumed training Tuesday at MDC Stadium in Chilomoni Township, Blantyre.

Lanjesi picked an injury during the Malawi National Football Team’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Warriors of Zimbabwe in June.

Nkhulambe, who has scored vital goals for Bullets after signing from Mzuzu United during the mid-season transfer window, was not available for selection in the past two weeks.

Bullets Team Manager, Rahim Ishmael, said the duo’s return was a big boost in the remaining decisive five league games.

“He [Lanjesi] is an experienced player and we hope that he will do his best to help us. We have been struggling in league and cup games due to injuries of our regulars while others went outside the country,” Ishmael said.

However, defender-cum midfielder, Bashir Maunde, has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to injury.

Bullets face Mafco FC in a do or die league encounter this Sunday at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

Bullets will miss the services of their top scorer, Chiukepo Msowoya, who is serving a yellow card suspension.

Msowoya has scored 16 league goals, one behind leading scorer Richard Mbulu of Mafco.
