Premier Bet Wizards’ Technical Director, Peter Mponda, has refused to read too much into the happenings in Be Forward Wanderers’ camp ahead of today’s TNM Super League contest at Kamuzu Stadium.
During the week, Wanderers players boycotted training over unpaid dues with captain, Francis Mlimbika, and winger, Mike Kaziputa, reportedly pressing for their signing-on fees.
But having lost 2-1 away to Kamuzu Barracks, Mponda said he knows that the eighth-placed Wanderers cannot afford another slip-up.
Nomads have 32 points from 22 games, nine points behind leaders, Silver Strikers. Wizards are placed on 14th place with 19 points from 22 games.
“Wanderers are used to that. We should not be cheated that what is happening there can disturb their preparations. The players know that they are paid to win football matches,” he said.
With attackers such as Hendrix Misinde, Benard Chimaimba and Peter Msowoya,
Wizards can cause Wanderers’ defence which will likely be without Foster Namwela, Boston Kabango and Harry Nyirenda problems.
Wanderers’ coach, Yasin Osman, has repeatedly insisted that his charges are still capable of winning the championship.
