Squad bloated— Yasin Osman

Be Forward Wanderers’ Coach, Yasin Osman, has said the Nomads’ squad is too big and needs to be trimmed at the end of the season.

“Wanderers have many players. It is difficult to manage 30 to 35 players as you tend to focus on the whole group rather than improving each individual, and this leads to lack of motivation,” the veteran mentor said.

Osman said this Monday when asked about his impression of the team, which he took over from sacked Eddingtone Ng’onamo last week.

The coach was in charge when Wanderers defeated, Civo United 2-1 on Saturday before losing by a similar margin to Kamuzu Barracks the following day. Both games were played in Lilongwe.

“Such games were an eye-opener, added Osman,” who insisted that Wanderers have a mathematical chance of winning the championship.

“Our supporters need to understand that things will not change overnight. One thing I have noted is that some players are highly committed and some are not committed,” he explained.

“In the game against Civo, we dominated and the players were committed but it was different in the next game against Kamuzu Barracks. KB were more physical in their approach and they played long balls, but some players were not committed. Maybe we should be concentrating on those who are committed.”
