Artists set to decorate mothers on Mother’s Day

About 50 mothers will be decorated with different assorted items during a Mother’s Day Gospel celebration concert to be held at Robin’s Park in Blantyre on October 15.

Spokesperson of the organising team of the concert, Isaac Chizaka, said on Tuesday that mothers need to be celebrated for the good work they do.

“This concert has been organised by well-wishers in conjunction with artists. We are talking of nothing else but mothers looking ahead to Mothers Day which falls on October 15. We want mothers to be spoiled on this day apart from enjoying different performances to the fullest,” Chizaka said.

He described the concert as a special one for mothers and that they have an assortment of items to be given to them.

“We will give 50 women umbrellas, T/shirts, cooking oil and Zitenje, among others. Although our target are mothers, we are also saying that this is a family entertainment so we will also give out sweets to children,” Chizaka said.

He said the platform will feature the cream of gospel artists among them Evans Meleka, The Great Angels Choir, Neligo Women’s Choir, Ethel Kamwendo Banda, Ndirande Anglican Voices, Prophets of Vision, Princess Chitsulo, Limbani Simenti and Mau K.

There will also be performances from comedians and poets including Winiko, Atcheya, Mr Malawi, Aunt Geti and Hudson Chamasowa.

“All we want is for more people to come and celebrate with mothers. People should expect the best and we are saying everything will be on point. The band that will back all the artists on the day is Malimba,” Chizaka said.

He added that their target was not to make money but give a chance to people to celebrate mothers in style.

Meanwhile, gospel musician King James Phiri has also organised Gospel Show Mothers Day Special.

The shows start on October 16 at Gymkhana Club in Zomba and then Robins Park in Blantyre on October 17.

During the two shows, Phiri also indicated that the first 10 women will receive Chitenje cloth.

Several gospel artists will be part of the two shows including Kamuzu Barracks, Thocco Katimba and Favoured Martha.
