The idea of the establishment of the Cedar Cultural Centre aimed at promoting arts and culture earned the Malawi team a third place in Germany recently.
According to a press statement, (released) by Goethe-Institute recently, the aims at creating a platform for tourists to find out more about Malawian arts and culture and at the same time give artists a chance to showcase their works.
The statement said the Malawi team was made up of pupils from Bambino Secondary School, who participated in the Future Young Entrepreneurs Project.
The statement said Bambino Secondary School has been participating in the EU-funded project for some time and that this time 30 pupils were part of the project.
The project encourages young people to come up with business ideas of sustainable start-ups.
According to the statement, two winning teams from Malawi travelled to Berlin.
There were 14 teams from seven countries.
Adding to the excitement of coming third, the students met Michael B. Kamphambe Nkhoma, who is the Ambassador of the Republic of Malawi in Germany.
Bambino Secondary School in Lilongwe is supported by the Goethe- Institute through the Pasch (Schools: Partners for the Future) network which promotes the worldwide learning of German as a foreign language.
Pasch was launched in 2008 and is an initiative by Germany’s Federal Foreign Office.
