President Peter Mutharika’s long-time right-hand man and Special Assistant Ben Phiri has resigned.
Phiri has confirmed the development.
He says he has resigned to pave way for investigations into multi-billion kwacha assets that he is widely believed to own.
The resignation is with effect from June 1, 2015.
State House Press Secretary Gerald Viola says he does not have details of the resignation.
