President Peter Mutharika and First Lady Gertrude Mutharika have joined many other Malawians in mourning Justice Maxon Mbendera.
Until his passing on Thursday, Mbendera was chairperson of the Malawi Electoral Commission and Judge of the Supreme Court of Appeal.
In a statement released Friday, the Mutharikas described Mbendera as a distinguished Malawian who served his country with excellence.
They said Malawi has lost “a man of high integrity, impeccable honesty and patriotism to his country and that he was a fountain of wisdom.
